The Trusted Choice Big “I” is the 3rd oldest junior golf event in the United States and has served as a national championship challenge for our nation’s most accomplished junior golfers since 1969. In addition to joining the ranks of some of the most well known amateur and professional golfers in the US today, there are other reasons to qualify:
Compete against fellow champions from 39 states Earn an exemption into the 2018 National Championship Earn exempt status on the AJGA tour Earn AJGA performance based entry points Travel costs are provided by a number of participating states Complimentary Players lounge and dining area Complimentary private housing available Complimentary transportation for all players News releases provided to local and national media outlets
How do I Qualify? Before considering these options, remember that a player may not turn 19 years of age prior to the final round of the Championship. Here are three tracks available to earn a spot in the Big I
Contact your State Chairperson. Depending on your state, it could involve local and state qualifying. Qualifying is very different in all states, so be sure to contact your State Chairperson well in advance. Each state has a dedicated page to gain insight into qualifying for the Trusted Choice Big I National Championship.
Earn a 2017 spot from the 2016 Championship
Top 10 boy finishers from the 2016 Big "I" Top 5 girl finishers from the 2016 Big "I"
Request a national exemption If you have conflicts with your state’s qualifying tournament and are a Golfweek Top 100 ranked player by submitting your resume to Keith Carriker, firstname.lastname@example.org between April 1st and May 15, 2017. These spots are very limited and will be considered based upon national ranking and reasons for conflict. Those persons awarded an exemption will be notified no later than May 20th.
